5 year ban for Southend fan

I was a bit confused by this to be honest - is this the same lad who ran onto the pitch during the game, or someone else who only went on the pitch afterwards with everyone else?

Judging on the weak punishments given out these days for much worse crimes the ban, the community service and fine seems very harsh.

Indeed it's a different person but the picture depicts the fan that ran on during play I think

All the same Greg is a good lad at heart, some people who get mixed up in things like this only go to cause trouble however I don't care what anybody says Greg is a true SUFC fan at heart, in my view massive overreaction from the police trying to bring somebody down who has not given them the chance for years! If he has a 5 year ban for that then many other people on this forum should be serving bans including myself!

Shame on Essex police

Ridiculous. 5 years ban for 'obscene gestures'? He could have done far worse on a Saturday night and got away with a slap on the wrist.

Front page of the Heaving Gecko so must be much more important than closing schools and old peoples homes

been on the police radar for how many years? runs towards the O's fans why, to shake their hands ?
has knowledge of the pubs smashed up in redbridge before the away leg against Orient, how ?
but no, you are all quite right, he's "one of us" so must be alright and just the kind of bloke you would want in the stands.
two faced ***** i'm afraid - he's banned for good reason.

Sadly Essex Police have let themself down, Im sure some one here no me anyway, my actions that night were no different too the other 3000 fans who went on the pitch. I only ran on the pitch at the end of the game and that photo was not even me, 5 year Banning order for celebrating the blues getting to Wembley. Was Arrested 7 days before our trip to wembley so i missed out on the chance to see our first ever trip to wembley, would never of happened if Dick Spooner was still in charge, can see the new Head Officer making lots of Arrests/Ban's for minor actions, so be careful chaps. See you all in 5 years :( :( If anyone would like help with my 1000 Pound fine please feel free :)

I be happy to show you the cctv, i ran no where near orient fans, i was hugging Kevin Hurst at the final whistle. And not once did i mention any pubs, wouldnt believe what ever you read in the Echo!

5 year ban seems very harsh for what he did.Opposing fans making gestures to each other has always gone on.Also lots of fans run onto pitch.

Echo reporting crap, the journalist was there all day in court and that photo was of the lad who ran on pitch before full time whistle

When I go to games I am never offensive to anybody which means I or people like me will never be banned,Live by the sword and you die by the sword.

obscene gestures... stadiums would be empty

was at the palace game ,1974 ,75 !!when the police escorted 3 palace fans( 1 a bird, ruff as hell,as most palace birds are), from the north bank to the southbank(palace area),as they walked past the"pak",they started swearing&used obscene gestures at us,we all "gesticulated" back, being friendly blues fans,my mate next to me got arrested&was done about a weeks wages, then, they "waved "first,we waved back,he got done.. rather unfair, one thinks!! why one now brings this up after 40 years, got no idea..i am sure my doctors can help:omg:
