In light of Pubey's latest request for advice, I am posting in the hope of someone being able to help us with the little problem we have with our porch.

Basically, the old wooden side panels, doors and columns are all being replaced on 23rd with uPVC. The top part of our porch is still the original wood, now this is the only photo I have, so excuse the car and focus on the porch...in stripping the paint yesterday, we have discovered that the corner shown at the front top is rotten.

So, best ways to replace the corner? Helpful advice would be much appreciated.

Could you ask the UPVC people to strip back the rot and clad the original wood with UPVC

Light a match and let the insurance company sort it out.

Don't forget to claim for any Picasso's, Faberge Eggs or 70" B&O TVs destroyed in the blaze.

Basically, you need a carpenter to strip out and replace wood, or as steveo said, have the Double Glazing company, UPVC it.
By the way, most Double Glazing companies have a carpenter for these types of things, and for doing wood conservatories with Double Glazing. So might be worth asking them to come up with a solution, to keep it under one firm. Then if things start leaking or falling apart, they can't blame the person you used to put the wood right.

Thanks for the helpful comments guys, hopefully we have now managed to get it sorted.

Mods, quite happy for thread to be closed when you get a moment x
