Right, we need to talk about Saturday... (sorry, if Monday is too early - but I can't wait for this one)

Very interested to see PB's line up. I reckon we just need to go for a tried and tested starting line up;

Smith

Demetriou
Coker
Ferdinand
Thompson

Atkinson
McLaughlin
Wordsworth
Lenny

Cox
Ranger

Subs: Teenage Goalie, White, Amos, Timlin, McGlashan, MAF, Robinson

thoughts...

Never to early for a Pre-Match Thread!

I would like to see us start with the same 11 that finished the Walsall game.

Goalkeeping question;

Is Oxley likely to play again this season?

On Saturday we had Ted and no sub GK on the bench. Risky business - especially against Wimbledon's big lads.

That's the exact right team.

Should be the easiest selection that PB has to make this season.

Let's hope he doesn't try to be too clever for his own good.

He's doing a great job this season, but could trip himself up if he over thinks it!

it's amazing how many outfield options PB has, Robinson and MAF upfront - McGlashen to widen it up, even John White at RB with Demitriou as a winger. I know Demetriou gets stick and sometimes resembles Bambi on ice, but I really love his energy, and he was flying when he came on against Walsall - wonder if PB has actually considered him as an out and out winger?

I seem to remember a couple of tweets or soundbites going out after he had the operation on his elbow, that the operation went well, and he was penciled in for a mid April return.

I haven't heard anything since, so only as a guess if he is on track with his recovery, he may be available for the Easter games against Chesterfield or MK Dons.

That being said, if Ted continues fine form, clean sheets & we as a team keep picking up 3 points between now and then, I would be surprised if Oxley walks straight back into the starting line up once judged match fit this season.

However I agree, it is a real risky business not having a sub keeper on the bench. It doesn't happen often that a goal keeper gets subbed in a game, but of course we are dealing with Southend United here.... So we always know to expect the unexpected!

Cue Daniel Bentley at the expense of Snith the Elder at penalty time.

Either scenario a)

................................smith.........................
white........inniss.........ferdinand..........coker
atkinson.....amos.......leonard....wordsworth...mclaughlin
................................ranger...............................

We play dire defensive disjointed football for 60 minutes before bringing on some proper footballers + then Brown can come out and gloat about how marvellous his substitution skills are ...

or scenario b)

...................................smith.........................
white.............thompson......ferdinand ........coker
atkinson.......leonard.........wordsworth .....mclaughlin
.......................robinson..........ranger..................

cox , fortune , mcglashan , demetriou , amos, timlin , bishop/bexon

Go hard from the off , get an a couple of early goals + keep the tempo high. Play with a formation where our players actually look like they know what position they are playing . Win 5-0 + stay in the play offs whilst improving our goal difference. Use our subs to keep fresh legs.

He won't start with 3 forwards. Atkinson to rightly come back in at RM and choice of either Robinson or Cox to partner Ranger.

In the last 6 games Wimbledon have won 3 (including beating Scunny & Warsaw), lost one and drawn 2 (including a 0-0 with Fleetwood).

We have won 3, lost 2 and drawn 1 of our last 6 games.

So far this season Wimbledon have scored 49 times and conceded 46 times - whereas we have scored 58 times and conceded 47 times.

So there doesn't seem to that much difference in performances although Wimbledon are 7 places below us in the league.

A team to be wary of I would say.

Major headache for Brown will be right back, with White having done so well but Demetriou having been key when he came on on Saturday. White could go into the middle but with Thompson on the bench that seems crazy too.

No brainer for me. Demi in for JW.

Cox should start for a number of reasons, including that he bagged two goals against them at RH, so they know they'll have to keep an eye on him, thus opening up space for Wordy and Macca to exploit.

Interestingly no one is calling for Woody to be dropped, unlike last week.

Wordsworth worked hard on Saturday and was back to something near his best, so why would anyone call for him to be dropped?

Difficult Team selection at the Wombles. This game wont be easy
Bit different on the board from last week re Wordsworth. No calls for him not too not be in the team.
Again difficult Solid defending of White or attacking of Jason away from home stick with White.
I also dont like the idea of no sub keeper on the bench

I would go

T Smith
White Thompson Ferdinand Coker
Atkinson Wordsworth Leonard Mc Laughlin
Ranger Cox

Subs YouthKeeper. Inniss. Demitrou. Timlin. Robinson. Fortune. Amos.
Unlucky for McGlashen and O'Neil not even making to bench, we have been lucky with injury's and a good squad.
