It's mostly irrelevant. Agents get paid by the club in every deal, but some clubs prefer to do it indirectly via paying the money to the player who then pays the agent the agreed amount.

Our 57k or so was spent on deals/contracts involving Bridge, Kyprianou, Demetriou, Fortune, Hines, Ranger, McGlashan, Sokolik and Oxley

again, he probably negotiated the fee with the club, added it to cox's signing on fee and then effectively claimed it from Cox. technically the club paid cox, but there is no way the agent didnt get paid from the deal (unless the hugely unlikely event of Cox not having an agent is the case)
