Maybe you could get hom on Shrimper zone,we could write to him, maybe ask a few questions about his time at Roots Hall.
He is and always will be one of our greatest ever players. Please keep us informed

Alan appreciates all the kind words said about him. Considering all his health problems (he has also suffered minor strokes because of the thrombosis) he tries to keep positive.
His daughter Claire who lives nearby is a tower of strength and helps as much as she can. Alan also dotes on his 2 year old grand daughter.
At long last his house has been completely modified with a lift ,wet room, widened doors etc.
Claire takes him to watch Middleborough every home match and he still follows blues results. However he misses his passion for golf.
To say life is difficult for him is putting it mildly. It must be sheer hell at times and yet Alan never complains about his misfortune.

About ten years ago I interviewed Alan for the LDV fanzine- he was working at the golf club at the time. I was chatting to him during work hours, and my boss appeared at my shoulder so I had to hang up. Ten minutes later I recalled Alan, and I told him my boss was waiting for me, sorry for that - Alan just said, you should have told her who you were speaking to. :hilarious:

Great guy - he told me he marked George Best whilst at Middlesborough, and absolutely loved his time at Southend.

Alan Moody is one of my original Southend Utd heros. I was born in 1970 and, according to my dad, went to my first game when I was about 2 1/2. Not surprising all my first memories of Southend United revolve around him.

Alan Moody makes my "all-time favourite XI".
His testimonial game in 1982 was just before a well known Shrimper (big & Ginger) got married and Alan made a point of coming over to wish them both well.
Life obviously has it's challenges for Alan but I hope that he is aware of just how much support he has from Southend United supporters - past and present.
