It seems as if there may be another unsanctioned Twenty20 competition being put together, this time in New York.

The ICC have released a statement warning Cricketers not to take part, or risk sanctions such as those who appeared in the original rebel league, the Indian Cricket League. This would mean banning from all International cricket, and some Domestic competitions.

It is due to take place in October on the baseball field in Staten Island.

Details on Cricinfo.

I have really enjoyed watching the IPL this year with the English players taking part. The new skills they will pick up, there has been some tremendous batting, with great touch play coupled with big hits, and equally tremendous bowling, with various cutters and changes of pace, learning these new skills can only help England in all forms of the game.

I think it will be a real shame if the Twenty20 format starts to become saturated, and begins to threaten the longer Domestic games and Tests which should ultimately have the highest priority.

Although there may be a case to spread the great game around the globe, both the USA an Canada do have International sides, if it does go ahead it may benefit the game on that side of the Atlantic.

The ICC should find some way to integrate these competitions around the Test calendar, possibly by laying to rest the 50 Over format, hopefully we won't see any test careers cut short if players want to take part.
