If Gateshead go up and Fleetwood stay down, that's a mere 8,500 miles on the road next season.

Time to change the Bentley, Ron ?

Well he was in the merc s class today making a swift exit! Well you never know we might beat morecambe in the league one day.

Hopefully we will exit all cup competitions at the first attempt - too distracting.

We weren't in any cup competitions when we had that disastrous spell in February. A few more points then and we would have been cruising an autos place.

Only needed 10 points more to get an auto place, which when you consider that in those 15 or so games without a win, we faced Bristol Rovers (relegated), Wycombe (just avoided relegation), if we'd won 3 and drawn an extra one of those 15 we'd be promoted. Oh well.

The F.A. Cup game was excellent ... and the league game was disastrous. Perhaps our main priority will be to fix our inconsistency. All teams have a set of poor results but we seem to be experts! And improve our game in poor weather.

Gotta hope Cambridge get up tomorrow always a decent trip there. Dagenham, Pompey and Luton would be nice away days if on a Saturday more than likely put all them midweek!! If Gateshead do come up ill be having a weekend in Newcastle, done that for sunderland away few years back and went past Gateshead's ground on the way. Tranmere away is always a good one as can have a weekend in Liverpool!

I have nothing against Gateshead but they don't have a football ground, they have a stadium at which they play - you know, as bad as Rotherham a few years ago - in fact worse, as there are fewer people there. It makes Accers seem like paradise ...........:omg:

Even though the KO is 4pm today (what planet are the FL on) I wouldn't mind betting the Conf play-off gets a bigge attendance than the L1 play off. I'll also wager that Gateshead bring more than Fleetwood will. They are a former league club after all.

What were those games like Cricko?

Before we played Hull City, Southend won 5, drew 3 and lost once in 9 matches.

After it, Southend had 8 draws and 3 losses before we defeated Oxford.

The cup loss had a major affect on the season.

Too many draws. The games at home against Hartlepool and Wycombe spring to mind as games we should have won
