Was just thinking how hard it must be to run and keep a football league club afloat. Now in no way am not blaming ron for our current situation but it cant be easy to run a football club and especially at the moment with no fans being able to come through the turnstiles. We know ron needs to pay the money to get us out of the embargo but it cant be easy to find 650,000 just like that and then too buy players capable of playing in the football league and to pay there high wages and all the staff and the general running of the club.Must be an absolute nightmare and right now and we have to remember what rons trying to do for the future of the club and what hes done in the past!! We all moan and slate him and we will because its our club and we want success, just remember he must be pretty down too and he wants success just as much as we do,i say for all the ron haters if u can find £650,000 by Wednesday and pump a load of cash into the club then u should pay ron a visit,if not just sit back and think how hard it must be for him right now,by no means is ron a saint but we should really cut the guy some slack.

Although, as a businessman he knows about cutting cloth to suit and not overstretching finances. He gambled on becoming very rich with FF, it’s not going to happen. He’s in a very tight predicament, I’m sure the club is lower down his priority list. Sadly, there isn’t a buyer, I personally don’t think Ron is a bad man just not right for the club now.

Many fans have bemoaned the price of a matchday or season ticket and suggested the fare served is not value for money. I dread to think how Ron feels getting absolutely no bang for his buck. Whether, as some claim, it is all his fault or, as I maintain, it is his fault along with many others, he has had to dish out some serious dosh and witness some very poor management and dreadfully poor, so called, professional players. Hopefully this season will see him get some return for his money.

Much to the utter disappointment to some you....FF will be happening. Even if we go out of the league.

I love the way the council have been able to mug off every shrimper for years, in the safe knowledge most of them will blame Ron.

Uncle Vic tried to call their bluff back in the 80's but the fans let him down. Back then many councillors actively wanted the club to go bust. A Football club was the last thing they wanted to have in "their" town and they had a lot of support from residents. Not only that, even many footballing residents didn't support it because its popular to sneer and dismiss SUFC as you head of up to London to watch your team.

Even in recent times Sainsbury's laughed at us all, planning and extending the town centre shop whilst telling you all the deal was still on.....Safe in the knowledge most would blame Ron....Which they did and still do.

Then our council steal the cinema idea and rush it through for the Seaway. Now they are changing the plans as it was rushed through. Lets just say yes and then we will deal with any issues later. No looking for ancient artefacts and buried kings when its their project......Again safe in the knowledge that when Ron has to change his plans most fans will blame him.

Then we have fans who love to abuse their own players. One well known former player told me he hated playing at RH. You really need to sit next to some of their families because you suddenly hear the abuse a lot better. The same people will be looking to dig out this Spurs lad when he arrives, even his family if their daft enough to venture on here......Safe in the knowledge that it will be all Ron's fault

Anyway its not all bad for Ron. All the changes and delays will make him more money, he just has to wait. So to all the Ron must go, we need a Hong Kong criminal or that mythical billionaire who wants to waste £5m year.......That is not going to happen.....Not until FF or bust. If we do go bust Ron can still have a good earner so be careful what yo wish for.

For now, Ron is stuck with us and we are stuck with him. Once again I am hearing rumours of a protest. Well if you do protest..... Go and block Sainsbury's or the council offices, like you should have done years ago. We might be living the dream by now, we could be Charlton, Wigan or Reading. If someone turns round and tells the assistant mangers wife to **** off, do like I did and have a word.....Its amazing how quiet they go.

If Ron final gets the hump and we end up with a 3 sided Col U stadium and playing non league.. Its the mugs that will have got us all, what they wished for.......Don't let them win. Its easy to blame Ron and if it wasn't Ron it would be someone else. In the same way if you sack 4 mangers in a year it doesn't actually solve any problems. In fact as we are finding out it makes things a lot worse.

Thanks, rigsby, for your insights and sense of perspective. Do you think the Chairman and the Board are now in a postion to get the embargo lifted?

For any of those that have had business dealings with RM outside of SUFC, you may get a slightly different answer.

Interesting comment above "Even if we go out of the league." I agree as ultimately it's irrelevant of which League (if any) we play in as it's a financial business transaction which ultimately differentiates businessmen (i would imagine this encapsulates most Chairman) from fans.

If anyone actually believes that RM initially got involved with SUFC because of a love for football then I would be surprised.

I don't know about their current finances but Ron has come up with the goods on the 17 previous occasions. People will say thats no way to run a football club but the whole of football is run like one big payday loan.....Thats why over 20 clubs have gone out of the league since Ron took over SUFC.

Its football that needs changing before our Chairman......Covid might actually knock some sense into some stubborn heads.

The Board?

I would suggest that they have as much knowledge of the financial situation as most of the fans do.

From what I understand Ron won't even tell the board how much of the future FF revenue SUFC will actually benefit from. Given that they can't even get that out of Ron, I would guess that you're right.

That's possibly one of the reasons the club are in such a bad way. None of the board (from what I've heard - although I admit this is all rather out of date) are prepared to give/loan the club any money because they are kept in the dark. So Ron is left having to do it all himself. The ironic thing is that Ron then uses that as an argument that the club wouldn't survive without his financial input!

Like such wages cap that's been brought in that our own Chairman voted against haha

Thanks for that. Hopefully, the Chairman will come up with the goods on the 18th occasion.

One thing I would say is that I admire a) his thick skin, and b) his staying power.

I really believe that he wants SUFC to succeed. I doubt he likes the situation any more than us. But, he's the cause of it, and I believe he can't see, or won't accept that.

The only thing we can do is try and hold our nerve, and hope/pray (depending on your disposition) that he submits acceptable plans for the new stadium ASAP.

Ron does seem to get the wall of his front garden knocked down more than most.
Yeah that area gone right downhill lately. Who would want to live on that bend on a busy road with idiots sounding their horns at 3am (well they always are when I drive past his house at 3am).
