Anyone remember the last time a popular Scottish manager was fired?

Dave Smith in about 1983 or 84.

In his case - he also didn't just leave. Rather than being asked back "a la PS" he refused to acknowledge the decision and continued to turn up for work every day for a couple of weeks. Fantastic! Sacked, absolutely no influence, no work load ...but still went to "his" office every day!!

Priceless! God bless you Smithy!!

If i remember this correctly.
Dave Smith had a daughter called Nicola who was a couple years younger than me and she died suddendly in a car accident which caused him to suffer mental health problems

Smiffy was the greatest SUFC manager ever ...................... and a true gent to boot

Nicola died tragically young.
I think it was after Dave Smith managed our club - but that that mattters little.

It just shows that in reality,....who is our chairman,manager or leads us out at Wembley - is just a bit of fun x
