Backroom Staff Salary Issues

Just a couple of things before the conspiracy theories start.

I didn't rejoin the club to be anyone's patsy, and everyone at the club knows that from the top down, so Benjamin would do well and so would everyone reading this, remember that I'm here to be a part of a positive change which ends with a club that is known for best practice, transparency, accountability and sustainability. All words I know, but everyone who's come in since 2021 and existing staff are working their tails off to move the club forward.

I tread a fine path between a promise to supporters of positive change from last year, a role within the club to influence change or leaving the club and having no influence to change anything.

I will not walk away from the supporters.

In the near year I've been at the club I've seen first hand the work Tom Lawrence, Football Department have done along with existing staff and it's fair to say that a more honest group of hard working and caring individuals you'll do well to find. That's the truth.

But there are only so many meetings, so much work, and so many words that can replace tangible decisions that place the club on a sustainable path.

I speak only for myself and I'm posting this because you deserve communication, not silence, but I know the sentiments will be echoed by many of you who've supported this club for decades, along with staff, many who are caught up in the cost of living crisis and can ill afford to not be paid for their hard work.

I will discharge my promise to all of you that Southend United Football Club will be sustainable, competitive and discharge its responsibilities in good time.

But we are getting perilously close to the time when lines have to be drawn because good people with good intentions and abilities are being adversely affected. This must change immediately.

Stan.
Thank you @StanCollymore, I just ignore Rayleigh Blues, he want us to fail so he can gloat! I hope things get sorted out quickly.

What we need this season is a cup run, to try and reach 3rd round and hope for a big pay out.

Wonder how our new sponsors feel about their proud names being associated with such a gutter running and immoral outfit?

they are probably thinking "lets not pay that invoice" he will probably be bust next month

I wonder if TL and the new finance director have been paid or is just the lower orders who are suffering ?

I wonder if there’s anyone in America that would like to make a rival documentary about buying us… one can dream!
We can’t be bought for £2m like Wrexham unfortunately. If he’d sell for that much I’m sure there would be many suitors and a documentary could be fun!

There really isn't a simple answer to this. Ron going would mean no more club. Ron staying means we may have this situation again and again.
The phoenix club sounds wonderful, and we'll be back in L1 within 5 years? Doesn't work that way... I feel our only hope is Ron sells, takes his debts or we find a very wealthy and honest new owner.
Live within our means could mean we play in Chalkwell park on a Saturday.

the biggest thing is losing the debts(s)

also getting a management with a focus on progressing the football club (not doing a property business) and getting control of all the incoming revenues.... wheres the money gone .. Dalby, Kelman, Bishop,,

If the fans via a legally constituted organisation created a 2.5million fund
(5000 fans @GBP 500 a vote) they could get control of the club and all incoming revenues and make the blooming thing work ..

when or if mr big or sheik blah blah turns up you can vote to sell ..

there is a lot of ifs and buts - Roots Hall/FF etc etc but the council, the FA, Vanarama, the footballing community, the politicians - would all prefer to see a fan led club emerge.

maybe nothing will happen until the situation really explodes - but administration could be a good thing ...

I guess its time for a lot of supporters to reflect on how much time and effort they are really prepared to give if it all comes down to it ..
Never going to happen. He wants his “debts” paid so he can finally make some money. So would like someone to pay £30m.

Wrexham bought for £2m with 15k fans. Let’s be honest if it was £2m club and ground there would be no issue and it would have been bought some time ago.

There is no way this “debt” is going until the the development is done and he gets paid tax free for “debt repayment.”

In all honesty his ego is too big and he just won’t sell. The stadium on leasehold does t work. Look at Oldham. It’s why the previous owners were doomed to fail from the start at Oldham.

It will take something drastic for Ron to go and that’s the unfortunate reality.

What we need to do is to set up an AFC Southend, that is the only option left right

Exactly. Everyone chimes on about AFC Wimbledon but they are the exception. The reality is a splintered fan base, and a long term future in non league playing in front of one man and his dog.

Look at Bury. Fighting like cats and dogs over the true identity of the club. Hereford and Darlington have never found their way back. Scarborough split into two clubs.

A phoenix club is an absolute last resort. The situation at the moment is clearly holding us back but how long realistically can Ron cling on for? He doesn't look in perfect health for starters.

getting rid of RM means creditors calling in enough debt so he can no longer pay them and legally trade

at which point his companies go into administration -

so he won't be our landlord ..

and we can afford rent

if RM goes into administration his creditors (the debt) go with him and will be expecting about 2p in the pound back..
Can we afford rent when we can’t afford to pay the club shop staff?

So where’s the communication we were promised?

Why is the club not addressing the issues? And by club, I mean not Ron, I don’t want another word of bull**** come out of his mouth.

Will Tom Lawrence address it? Stan Collymore has nothing to do with the situation so I don’t know why his name has been mentioned.

We need answers, the staff need answers, the staff need to be paid when they are contracted to be paid.

Disgraceful from Ron/The Club.

And for everyone saying Carl Reader is the answer, his plan was all talk and no real answers. A pension fund based in Monaco would be stupid to invest. The whole plan is a non starter from what I can see, unless they have hundreds of millions to buy out Ron, debt and FF.

On the plus side, we aren’t Crawley who are advertising YouTubers to play in the FA Cup 1st Round…
Little point sharing answers when there aren't any answers yet.

Yeah I think you can probably move that until at least Jan/Feb now. A worrying thought.

Fair enough. I’ve not spent much time speaking to my people. Once the season gets underway, they have more important things to worry about. That sounds more realistic.

For the foreseeable future I am unable to come to games due to last years protests.

If anyone wants the Martin Out flags and banners. Please drop me a message and I’ll ensure they get to you.

At what point in this whole process do we finally start to voice up against the chairman again? We have remained mute for nearly a year to give the management team some time to settle but I feel that although there have been improvements, the core issue remains and consistently proves himself not a fit and proper owner.

Ron - do us all a favour and **** right off. Sell the club to @Carl and please go away. I've been sympathetic to you in the past but I'm done.

I’m firmly in the Carl camp, but failing that, someone needs to let Bill Foley know there’s an even better seaside club who are desperate for his brand of investment 😜

Hi WestStandBlue

Hope you are well.

I would be more than happy for the club to release my agreement with the club for every supporter to see and for any payments made to me to date to be made available to you.

Beyond that, posting specific details would be in contravention of the agreement. But as I've said above, I'm more than happy for line by line, paragraph by paragraph, penny by penny to be shown to Southend United supporters.

Hope that answers your question.

Stan Collymore
It doesn’t really answer the question though? Have you received any payments from the club since others have not been paid?

What’s the end goal of this? Pretty sure it’s not Stan who’s not paying the staff so why it matters if he is paid or not seems a pointless question.

Is anyone really surprised about this ? As the players and coaching staff have been paid on time does this mean that the NL turn a blind eye to other staff waiting for their wages ? Nothing willl change while RM is here and he won't go anywhere until his golden egg is realised. Sadly, that is where out beloved club finds itself.

Understanding that the structure that has been built is not just yourself but other really good people with good intentions. What are the (red) lines in the sand and can the supporter base do anything to help or change the lines in the sand as it were??

Blues are in a PR storm! They roll out SVC. What’s the next trick up your sleeve?

Sorry but it’s boring now! YOU called for protests! YOU told us not to stop! But this stuff carries on happening! Well played Sir!
