Two titans here. But plumping for Halloween because it was the first proper slasher film, and Carpenter not only directed but wrote the now-famous score. Also, his mask is a James T Kirk mask.
 
i love texas chain saw and even the remake and new film the beginning are decent.
 
Vote Halloween! How many horror bad guys have managed to reinvent themselves and end up in Comedys like Wayne's World and Austin Powers? He looked much taller in Halloween though.
