Think this battle is going to come down to young v old. Horror films today are awash with ketchup , something that horror films before the 1980's didn't have.

Shows that Hollywood remakes these classics but generally makes an absolute pigs ear of it.
 
As is The Exorcist, but they're still head and shoulders above those torture porn films now that pass as "horror": Saw, Hostel etc....

I think the Exorcist is quite a scary film (it plays on the feeling of hopelessness and something happening to your child). I agree that Saw, Hostel etc aren't really horror films, but they are enjoyable in different ways (Saw 1 is especially good with the twist at the end). Carrie is a dated, poorly made film which is basically two main scenes that are dragged out and completely overblown
