Southend - fan's view

By Matt Slater
Southend fan

Considering their side has spent the last six seasons in the bottom flight's bottom half, Southend fans cannot wait for the season to start.

Most of them didn't want last season to end: Conference-bound cloggers became promotion-bound cup heroes.

The club's first cup final ended in defeat and the team finished in 17th, but a corner had been turned.

Now Steve Tilson, the man credited with last year's improvement, must lead the club to promotion.

Don't you just love the BBC for stating the obvious...

Considering their side has spent the last six seasons in the bottom flight's bottom half, Southend fans cannot wait for the season to start.

Agree that we are playoff hopefuls though... there are certainly a few teams who are automatic promotion contenders and this may be just out of our reach this year... Torquay just about managed it though [how that hurts!], so who knows, what the season has in store!
