Being in National League 'could cost Southend United £500,000'

But we could also be better off if crowds are up on the last season and our wage bill has been cut drastically.

Although any increases in crowds would need to be weighed against the reduction in ticket prices.

As for whether our wage bill is lighter I think it depends when you compare it to. I think our wage bill may even be more now than it was this time last year.

Since then Oxley, Lennon, Dieng and Goodship have gone which will be some of the bigger wages (plus some u23s) but we've added Dunne, Ogogo, Murphy, Bridge, Dalby, Coulson, Arnold, Akinola, ANG, Ferguson and Walsh.
