Benitez wants Reserve League Shake-up

Source: BBC News

There have been rumblings about this from Benitez, Wenger & Mourinho for most of the season but this is about the biggest story I've seen on this.

Have to agree with Fat Barry on this one personally. If this were allowed to happen it would start the terminal decline of English football!

The sooner the likes of Liverpool, Man Ure, Ar$enal and Chel$ki f*** off to a European "Super" League the better.

If the likes of Benitez knew anything about English football (which judging by the way Liverpool have continually failed to challenge for the premier$hite, he doesn't), he'd understand the importance of the football league, club's independence and the FA Cup.

What absolute nonesense and an insult to fans of the 70 odd non premier clubs.

Oh poor Rafa, his reserves are not getting games. Loan them out to clubs like us. Or dont have a whole team of youngsters never likely to make the grade.

What a prick!!

Does he not understnad that we have the best football league structure in the world, and it works really well!!

What a tosser

"And I am not sure about them playing in League Two, either; they need really to be playing against good players, then they will learn more."

How disrespectful to the 24 clubs competing in League Two.

Note to Mr Benitez / Mr Murinho etc....its easy just form your reserve team into a new side. enter the pyramid and work your way up.
or were you expecting your big time charlies to just get entered into the 2nd tier of football without earning it.

This typifies the overseas managers / players who do not understand the history and traditions of the Football Association (note it is The Football Association, not the English FA etc , becauseit was the First)

Good on Barry Fry for telling it like it is in that article... i particually love the line...
"i don't care if ther'ye Real Madrid, Juventus or Fray Bentos!"

Totally agree, the big clubs are a cancer on the rest of football in this country, they want to suck the life, competitive spirit and money out of all the other clubs to indulge their own sense of bloated self-importance. That's why I want to see Leeds down in Divi 3 because 5 years ago they were part of this group of bloodsucking scum.......
:thump:

That's a tad harsh Wessex. Personally it's the Man Us and Chelskis I hate about the EPL, not the Liverpools or the Geordies.

But yes, I have to agree, it's a stupid idea. Give it a few years and we'll be having a mini-Premier Reserve league in the Championship.

Nothing admirable about the scousers either, they've spent massively as well over the years and they had a virtual stranglehold over the English league for two decades. Now they have the temerity to whine that the current champions have no history......... nor did they before the end of the sixties. And if I hear another commentator gush about the special European nights at Anfield I'll puke.

As for the Kop..........now that must be the biggest concentration of kleptomaniacs this side of the Yangtse river.....or the biggest open prison in the world!!!

Rat-shagging, dustbin-raking, soap-dodging, thieving scumbags. Is there a city in Britain that has a higher opinion of itself based on f*ck all of substance......

As you can see I'm not fond of them myself

:guns: :thump: :flamer:

They're a joke as well.
Look at Freddie Shepherd's comments about why should his team and his money subsidise teams like Darlo, Hartlepool & Carlisle?

Plus also look at their self-titled "best fans in the world". I posted this after their FA Cup game v Birmingham. Stadium only half-full then when it was plain to see they were getting dumped out of the cup, instead of trying to encourage their team to perform and get back in the game they all went home!

The team I'm gutted never went down was Everton.

They were one of the prime movers behind the formation of the Premier League and were in real danger of being chucked off their own gravy train when they were 2-0 down to Wimbledon (RIP) needing to win last game of the season.

Sadly financially impoverished Wimbledon decided not to bother playing second half and Everton came back to win 3-2 and stay up.

That's harsh. Newcastle fans are the loyalist in the world and certainly stuck with the club through thick and thin. I use to regularly have this discussion within one of my mates who is a bar-code. I suggested that Newcastle were a bunch of glory-hunters who deserted their team when they were crap but he use to tell me how St James' was always heaving, crowds never dropped below 20,000+. I think he probably use to sit alongside Blair in the Gallowgate End for that 1992-93 season.

I put Portsmouth fans above them.
