SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley insists he has not been affected by the uncertainty surrounding his future.

I'm not aware that there is any sort of ground swell of concern from Blues supporters when it comes to how Bentley is performing. In fact I think the opposite is true and folk are impressed that he is maintaining his form mostly.

Why then, does the Echo and Bentley feel the need to release and publish an article like this? To my mind, all it does is stir up a debate that shouldn't be happening.

Thank you RBH.. Ive been ranting on about this for months!! Im so sick of these Bentley "will he or won't he" threads.

My personal take on this, is either some kind of Bentley's PR or SUFC PR machine keeps sending out these useless articles in order to keep him in the news.

Its non news worthy, just wear the shirt (don't kiss the badge. we all know how that ends!) Just be proud to play for the team and keep a clean sheet until Janaury!!

Its that sort of ridiculous expectation that will mean fans turn against him.

We cant expect to not conceded until January.

It's to keep his name 'out there' I guess.
All publicity is good publicity - isn't it ?

The best publicity for Bentley is to just keep doing the biz on the park. There will be people watching from other clubs undoubtedly.

I was only having a laugh! What would have been your line on a Daniel Bentley interview using those quotes then?

Yeah, I know you were mate.:smiles: I would have loved it if those quotes had appeared. It would have a kept a thread going on here for a very long time!!

No I meant what would you have angled the story on then?

Sorry, shows how slow I am at understanding posts at times! Ok, if I had been given those quotes I would probably have come up with something close to your report, as it fills column space and sells papers I guess. But I'm not a journalist and I'm retired, so I set the bar pretty low these days on self expectation.........

Why no more mention of the 'Boots Meal Deal' ?

How much does it cost and what do you get ?

It's not all about Dan Bentley !

Whilst I am a huge supporter of the freedom of the Press, I do tire of what appears to be undermining comments about our beloved team which IMHO does nothing for performance or morale. Let's have something upbeat for a change. COYBB

To be fair, the pages of a newspaper have to be filled. With the lack of any interesting news, what would people rather have? I'm sure anyone who buys the echo would rather read a story like this than turn to the back pages and not see anything about the club, or, worse still, more West Ham news instead.
