Best Movie Sountracks

Should this thread be about just movie scores, that is original music written specifically for the film in question. And not films whose soundtrack is a collection of existing singles and album tracks bought by the film company for the film.

I know it is a little pedantic, but there is a distinction.

I like the recent Hans Zimmer soundtracks collaborations with Christopher Nolan, though the highlight of his career was appearing in the video for Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles. He also produced and played synth on The Damned's single History Of The World, Part 1.

I’ve seen Hans Zimmer play live. Quite incredible if you get the chance especially him playing Driving Miss Daisy on the piano. And yes he played Video Killled with Trevor Horn.

I meant movie scores, I think the other thread covers the later, but I’m not fussed

Now this is my kinda thread! Could talk about this all day.

I don't think I'd ever be able to pick out one particular movie's soundtrack in its entirety above all others, but I certainly have my favourite composers and my favourite individual tracks. I love film scores, they can be so stirring.

These are some of the tracks on my Spotify playlist:

James Horner

Hans Zimmer

John Williams

Danny Elfman

James Newton Howard

Howard Shore

Alan Silvestri

Michael Kamen

Alan Menken

Nicholas Dodd

Jerry Goldsmith

Nicholas Hooper
