Bike rally in Southend today?

I was crossing the A127 today in Basildon and when I was halfway across the bridge I noticed some motorbikes on the road.

Nothing strange about that except the trickle of bikes turned into a bike procession that lasted some 30 minutes (honestly I timed it). Thats 30 minutes of just motorbikes all very closely packed together travelling towards Southend.

Is there something going on in Southend, if not where are all these bikers going?

Were they all part of the Hindu Hells Angels chapter heading to Shoebury East Beach for the annual festival to celebrate the birthday of the God of Fortune - Lord Ganesha?

It was the Essex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run, saw a few signs on the way to work this morning.
