Echo News Birthplace of Southend United displays fans anger as relegation looms

We aren't dead. Little bit childish to put RIP and 2021. We have not done a Bury or a Macclesfield, we have just dropped into the next rung of the football pyramid.

I'm not old enough to remember (not by a long chalk) but i'm pretty sure we weren't accepted into the league until 1920?? Thats 14 years after we were formed, so for the first 14 years we were playing at the level we look to be playing at next season, if not lower.

The club isn't dead, its just been relegated. Things need to be put into perspective, because if we ever did cease trading I'm not sure how some people would be able to cope if they feel that relegation to a different league is the end of the world.
