Or, to put it the other way round, the 40 (ish) the smallest ground in the Leagues; which puts us in the wrong division and only Div 1 (3 in old money) at best.
22000 and FF puts us into the high numbers! Dream away.

or with a three sided 14,000 stadium we would jump from 60th to a massive 56th place, well worth it!!!

what does it matter how many seats a club has? darlington had a 25000 seat stadium, but it didnt make them any less tinpot, and in fact was partly responsible for crippling the club!

Darlington having a large ground like that was a bit mad! lovely facilities but just not practical for them.Wonder if it will ever get used again

i believe its currently used by a 3rd tier local rugby team, and there was talk at one point that it may be used as the base for england womens rugby. not sure that ever came to fruition though.

I believe Darlo's problem centred on Reynolds being an organised crime and local crime lord, fiddling everything and everybody; which tended to make him, and hence Darlo's unpopular with the tax man, local constabulary, and reasonable honest folks.
The Reynolds Arena is certainly a huge, expensive waste of a ground.

And I believe the Rushdon & Diamonds old (NEW) ground is a similar sad tale and waste.

Yep Darlington Mowden Park Rugby Club actually own the ground now. I think they can make it work for them with crowds of about 800 to 1,000.
