Would be a very good signing if Phil could pull it off. Has a decent goal scoring record in the championship and wasn't he a main factor in Bristol City's promotion a couple seasons back?

There will be loads of clubs after him, that's one of the problems. Mind you, we managed to get Cox and Ferdinand, so you never know.

It will be a struggle, I suspect richer clubs than us will have been alerted to Smith being available, but if we pull it off we could make a real push for promotion. Failing that though I don't think Cauley Woodrow would be the worst player in the world, obviously he wasn't very good last time he was here but he's 22 now and has Championship experience.

Seems strange that PB has been so forthcoming in confirming his 3 targets? Generally he's been rather coy when he's looking at players to deter other suitors, however this time he is being totally up front. Given that Matt Smith could be on a number of clubs hit list this may backfire or is it part of his strategy.

He's either already spoken to Smith and trying to flush him out by naming the other two, or he's using the leverage of Smith's consideration to force the hand of the other two?

Just hope we conclude deals quickly, as we are short of forwards right now and going into a glut of games the **** could hit the fan if Cox or Fortune get injured...

If we could get Smith I would fancy us for the top 3. The other 2 not so sure. Nouble is a journeyman even at a relatively young age. Woodrow was pretty crap last time he was here.
