SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell has opted to slightly delay Ted Smith’s comeback from a long-term shoulder injury.

As much as i wanted to see Ted back on the bench for the last 9 months, i have to agree with SCP on this one.

Best to save him for another couple of weeks or so and have him back 100% for the remaining season.

We know from that sound bite, he wont feature against Coventry tomorrow, or Wallsall.

We very rarely need to use a sub keeper, so let him rest, field a decent outfield against the Southampton U21's and give Bishop another chance to shine and start the match (with Smith on the bench)

. Then include Ted as sub keeper against Blackpool.

My concern for Ted is he's a fairly nervous player as is, and this injury is just going to perpetuate that.
