Bolton Wanderers

I fear for them all.
Debenham went bust, shares became worthless etc and then continued trading but under new administration, no one paid a penny for the company AND that is a scenario that any would be owner for BWFC will be considering: get the club for nothing balanced against the EFL judgement.,

Sadly i think the writing is on the wall for them.....

Currently a whopping £41.6 Million in the red (and its end of season, so the debt will only grow further), not to mention the loss of revenue of being relegated from the Championship back to Division One.

Anyway, their back in court again on Wednesday for an outstanding tax bill of £1.2 Million......given that amount, i would be surprised how they will manage to pay it, especially as Bassini's takeover is now officially off, and someone would have to be as mad as a box of frogs to invest in that.

I wonder how quick the EFL will act upon the outcome of that if it isnt paid?

Theres talk in the press, that next season they will almost certainly recieve somewhere between a 12-21 point deduction at the start (for falling into adminstration and failing to fulfill a fixture against Brentwood).
.......... and possibly as much as a 30 point deduction at the start of the season, as they did to Luton in 2008 for financial regulation breeches (10 points from the FA & 20 points from the EFL).

If so, it will be a big ask to come back from that 30 point deficit and survive relegation from playing Division Two football, even as a big club such as themselves.

Personally, i cant see it being that harsh, but 21 points is certainly a real reality.

Administration would be a good outcome tomorrow, looking like we'll be sold to a consortium called football ventures https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11761052 Michael James is the guy who is a secured creditor and he owns the car parks around the ground, he's a massive Bolton fan and our future could well be in his hands, or the judge! Worst case scenario is liquidation.

We could be AFC Bolton shortly. fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.

Could be difficult next year , points deduction for Administration carried forward , and IIRC you must have the CVA in place to start the next season, if not the EFL could deny your place or add another points penalty. Then there is the punishment for the missed game.

Jeez you could be playing 'til December before you get a positive points total !

The one thing in your favour is you are a well known club, If this had been someone like Plymouth ,Swindon , or Us , the EFL would be hanging them out to dry

Fort William didn't manage that all season! (Finished with -7)

Feel for the fans, they pay week in week out with hard earned cash and they are the losers

Players will come and go, same as investors but the worse hit are the supporters

There has got to be a compromise where the club is punished but not at the expense of the supporter

Points deduction will kill the season and I expect the crowds, which leads to further problems.
Put a transfer embargo if necessary and a very very low wage cap, at least the team will have players and an even playing field

Bolton looking like a complete car crash at the moment. Players on strike again meaning friendly on Friday is cancelled. They played only kids in a friendly at York last Saturday.

Takeover being held up because hotel and club with separate administrators but preferred bidder for club also needs hotel to make it stack up and hotel administrators not ready to make a decision yet.

They're already starting the season on -12, they are yet to receive a deduction for an unfulfilled fixture last season. With only 7 senior players under contract (2 goalkeepers) and those being unpaid for 20 weeks now there is a real danger they won't start the season at all.

Makes a mockery of the fit and proper persons test of the EFL!

BOLTON'S League One home game with Doncaster on Tuesday has been postponed, amid welfare concerns for their young squad.

Sounds a bit odd. I don’t remember the NSPCC getting involved when Dru made all those appearances for us as a teenager or all the kids last year! It’s only been 4 games including the cup game... must be something else to it, unfortunately.

That'll cost them 9 points. It's utterly ridiculous. We never cancelled game last season when we were fielding kids to cover injuries. To do it without recourse to the EFL or Donny is appalling behaviour.

Indeed. People have played age 15 or 16. Are they claiming that an 18yr old has more strain on his body if he plays alongside two other 18 year olds as opposed to two 25yr olds.

Better cancel the FA youth cup then as its played mid week......
