i know hat you think, another pointless post
But after reading and assessing the posts about last nights crowd, perhaps this is the season where we need to get behind another North bank campaign.
Surely the games that are coming up, we could draw 8-9 thousand home fans. For istance we have orient and yeovil. I will garuntee that if we go up we will get 7 to 8 week in week out...Stand up and be counted...scriv, get this going again..
it seems the only sensible resolution...

It will never happen.

I would gladly buy a season ticket there if it did!

it's not as easy as asking one person to get it started and expecting it to happen. we had a great opportunity to get back in to the north bank when the slips in the programme were issued to guage if people really wanted it back and they only got something like 70 replies. if there was a way that you could ask the fans in a way that the club would accept as acceptable research then they would probably look at it as they seem to be big on getting a good atmosphere going on at the moment, but with a new stadium on the way an building costs of something like £20,000 there would have to be a hell of a lot of interest.

i was gonna put that in but you never know with the club, so i decided to leave it out. mind you even if we don't actually get the new stadium built Ron Martin is purchasing the rest of the shares from delancy so money will still be spent on other things that are probably more important than getting the north bank back unless there is sufficient interest.

once again, myself and trueblue on the same wavelenght:D

It maybe more of a case of necessity rather than demand, if we keep getting big crowds and remember we've got some big games coming up can the club really afford to have 2500 / 3000 seats without bums on them, even if only half of these were used it could potentially raise another £15000 per game (1250 x £12, average of adult and child tickets).

Exactly, while the club is doing well on the field more people are turning up and therefore it is more financially viable, whereas before when people wanted to move back to the north bank the team wasn't doing as good, so there is logic this time.

Point being?

The fact is it will cost the Club money to do this. Money that could be better spent on the playing side of things! In theory, we will be in a new shiny stadium soon, so why bother spending money on the current one unless its required.

Don't waste your time because it won't happen. ShrimperZone led a campaign back in October 2002 which was picked up by the Evening Echo and attracted such names as Paul Clark and Barry Fry to lobby for a return. The club met with all the relevant authorities (FLA, police, local council) and the decision for a return was left with the club providing required segregation issues were addressed. The cost to upgrade the stand was to be around £17,000 (which Ron Martin claimed SUFC could absorb; in other words it wasn't prohibitive) and the fans were given a chance to show their feelings both via a voting slip in the matchday programme for the home game against Hartlepool United and via a similar slip in the October issue of the Shrimpers' Trust newsletter.

At the end of the day, just 77 people responded to the club and, of those who bothered, just 26 expressed a desire for a return to the North Bank, just over 33%. Unsurprisingly, the club "closed the book" with Ron Martin stating that "we realised that a lot of our fans would like to go back in the North Bank and we gave them the chance to show us that this was the general consensus of the Roots Hall crowd. But the feedback we received is nowhere near enough to get the wheels in motion."

End of story ... it won't happen ...

yes in theory! ..... which begs the question what is going on!
Why ask us lot on here, who know as much as you on the subject (Bar FM who is an expert when it comes to new stadiums) and ask Ron Martin about it? I'm sure you could arrange a meeting with him on the subject. Or phone him, email him, write him a letter?
