When are we scheduled to play Bury
hope we can do the same at our home game against them should it be cancelled.
I think if they have one more game cancelled then it's curtains.
So 9th September could be the final day for Bury in theit current guise. Let's hope not.
3 months ago when they got promoted, wonder if their fans had any idea of the serious situation which was unfolding at the club?.
They were well aware, there's a fundraising page called Buy Our Bury that outlines all the problems Bury faced last year, including staff not being paid for weeks. It's a miracle that they got promoted.3 months ago when they got promoted, wonder if their fans had any idea of the serious situation which was unfolding at the club?.
The Bury FC squad not only continued to play without wages, they played their hearts out and ensured the club’s promotion for the sake of their own pride and for the fans.
No one witnessing their celebrations or watching the post-match interviews with the manager and players can be left in any doubt about their dedication and professionalism.
The tearful emotion at the final whistle was full of joy, but that joy is tinged with fear and grief that the club may not survive another two weeks.
I don't think the Accrington fans gesture is aimed at Bury football Club per se, Matty. Donations made at that supporters game will go into one of the various pots the fans now have going to raise money to help out the staff of Bury (those that are still left) that have not been paid for a long time and yet are still working at the club. The Bury fans really care and are doing whatever they can to save their club, exactly as we would do if we were in the state they are in. The relationship between the Bury Chairman and the supporters is now on a par with that which Blackpool fans had with the Oystons, extreme hatred. What Accrington have done is a great gesture however why should they do it? Bury have signed players on big wages etc for years and gained promotion from it etc. Why should any fellow clubs donate money to them etc?
I appreciate how rubbish this is for fans and club staff but for the people who run the club and sign these players etc, I don't feel sorry for them and certainly wouldn't give them my money.
Just been announced that Bury's third fixture has been called off. Very sad.
In fairness, Accrington (Stanley) went bust in the 1960s so their fans will be familiar with the situation at Bury. What Accrington have done is a great gesture however why should they do it?
