Capello's squad for Montenegro match

Ben Foster (Birmingham City), Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Manchester City)

Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa)

Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Joe Cole (Liverpool), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham Hotspur), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Aston Villa)

Darren Bent (Sunderland), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Kevin Davies (Bolton Wanderers), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

Generally picks itself, except for his continued obsession with Warnock and Lescott (no Shawcross or Garry Cahill). Also Joe Cole is woefully out of form, Wright-Phillips is barely playing and Davies over the tipped Andy Carroll is surprising too.

Is Capello trying to make a point about the lack of talent in English football?

That squad is ghastly. We basically have no reserves. Up front and midfield looks frightfully bare, and we know how thin we are defensively from the summer.

How long before the comedy value of being able to introduce Crouch and SWP as a double substitution wears off and SWP is dropped for good?

Tom Huddlestone? jog on! Milner should be instead of him.

sheeeeiittt, i didn't notice that Milner was missing from the squad. He's keeping Wright-Phillips on the bench, so why has he missed out?

and looked as immence at centre back as he does in midfield

Its not that bad a squad. Wouldnt have had SWP but the rest picks itself. Wouldnt have minded seeing Albrighton from Villa given a go, but cant complain, there isnt much out there so this is the squad that is going to see us through to 2012 probably. Still worry about Glen Johnson as a right back. Long last a call up for Kevin Davies, well deserved.

So, from that, you can pretty much gather that it should be:

Hart, G.Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, Cole, A.Johnson, Gerrard, Barry, Lennon, Rooney, Bent.

Although I'd personally like to see Ashley Young, who's been brilliant for Villa so far this season, in ahead of Lennon.

Glen Johnson and Gareth Barry are just horrendous... Every time they touch the ball it either slows the attack right down, allowing Montenegro time to settle, or bounces straight off them to the opposition. We have no need for Barry at this stage of the game, so bring Wilshere on to play behind Rooney and Crouch.
