At present, it is entirely logical that John White should be the captain. White is a much underrated player, has a great temperament, and a consistent performer.

But I would not be surprised if MM is planning to bring in some more new players and one of them may be earmarked for the captaincy in the longer term.

Groundhog Day- Manager after manager comes in, same debate about JW, and with monotonous regularity he is almost immediately first choice (certainly within the first few games). It might just be they are good enough judges of what he brings. The only thing in the way of him being obvious first choice as captain is injury concerns (but even single player is at risk of injury irrespective of their past history)

Tbh ive never seen the point of having a goalkeeper as captain.

It would have been White, Demetriou or Dieng but with no senior outfield players, MM had no choice. Oxley certainly wont be captain for the season.
