My mondeo is idling a bit high and keeps over revving when I brake to a halt before dropping back to idle.

Is this something I can easily fix or should I burn it out somewhere and claim on the insurance?

Have you checked out the Ford Mondeo forums is probably a common problem. I had a quick look and it could be the MAF (mass airflow meter) or the ECM (electronic control module) also a chance it could be a pipe leading to the MAF.

If you do decide to torch it then make sure you don't empty the whole car out, leave some personal items in the car CD's, clothing, some bits and pieces in the glove box etc. An empty torched car will raise suspicion with the Insurance assessor!
