Charlie Kelman

If you're good enough, you're old enough

It was more about the fitness side of things. It seemed like Sol and Colbert had got him to a decent level of fitness. But after the restart and the new season he just didn’t seem as fit.

One eye on the exit door.

i still think just downing tools is a ****ty way to handle business, but look at where we are, for him he chose wisely, we could have sure used a few goals this season tho :(

Came on as a 66th minute sub but couldn't score against Swansea who have the best defensive record in the efl

Seems he is getting noticed

My friend is a QPR sth and when they signed Charlie he said not to expect to see him in the first team squad any time soon as they had other promising youngsters who would probably be ahead of him - seems he has done very well and impressed.

I'd love to know how much he was sold for, and if we're getting anything for these appearances.

I think I remember seeing it was about £200-300k upfront but was heavily weighted in terms of future performances, goals, appearances etc.

Sit on the bench at qpr or potentially become a legend whose name is spoke of in years to come by helping sufc stay up in one of its darkest times.
Should have given it 1 more season imo.

Or potentially got relegated again with Southend and see his stock/appeal plummet. If that happened he may have been able to wrangle a move to a lower league one club and realistically be back where he was last season.
whilst I was disappointed to see him go especially allegedly so cheaply it would be absolute madness to stay. Let’s not forget how young he is and how poorly managed and toxic this club has been. Only now in the last few weeks are we seeing some green shoots of recovery and hopefully better times ahead.
I am fed up of this club playing Russian roulette with peoples careers. Kelman moving to a well run championship club was a complete no brainer

Yeah i reckon his stock would have survived, hes highly rated.

No ones stock was gonna rise the direction Southend were heading. There’s nothing to say he’d have scored 15-20 goals in league 2.....that’s not easy for the most experienced strikers let alone a lad learning this trade.

By the time Southend could potentially be in the Conference he’d be 20 with a double relegation on his CV and the latest starlet 17/18 year old would be scoring goals in the championship or league 1....maybe even the Prem.

Time moves very quickly in football and your very quickly forgotten. Managers and players have to move or promote while the irons hot....if you don’t you’re a forgotten man very quickly. No one will show you any loyalty. Ever.
