Club Statement:HMRC

Fearing the worst I rang the ticket office today to get my £80 refund, sooner rather than later. I was told that I had to wait until August for the money, but not to worry as the chairman was currently negotiating with a leading high street bank regarding new funding for the club. The plot thickens.

T'is true.

Oh...

More debt to cover the debt the club "don't have"...

At least we can enjoy Ron getting one over on the banks on our behalf by taking their money and us laughing at them when we don't pay back.

And it's not as if our below zero credit rating's going to have any effect whatsoever on the APR of this loan... Or maybe he's securing the debt on this back garden he owns in Benfleet that he's secured everything against...

Has anyone checked to see if RM's done a Mr Burns and in the event of all his businesses going under it's the canary who takes the flack rather than him?

I seem to remember that, on many occasions, Martin has patted himself on the back for keeping the Club free of interest bearing bank debt.

Ron at different times has been at pains to say the club runs without an overdraft, which IMO is code for the banks won't give us one. In the current climate a bank isn't going to fall over itself to lend an ailing business money.

I quite agree that the reason for our lack of indebtedness to banks stems from having a junk credit rating. My comment was meant to be ironic in that it perfectly represents how Martin spins his stories, viz we can’t borrow on the open market is turned into an example of fiscal prudence and good practice.

:) Sorry devon, missed your irony there, but you are spot on.
