Just at looking at the senior coaching staff on the club website, we only have PB, GC, and Lee Harrison (goalkeeping coach), plus old man Horton named, but there is no attacking coach? Who assumes these duties, as none of the aforementioned played in an attacking role in their careers, so who advises our front men. We lack goals, so unless I’m missing something are we not therefore missing a key part of our coaching set up?

Does Freddy have his coaching badges??

Additionally it appears that Ricky Duncan and Dave Huzzey are doing a fantastic job in the youth set ups, along with Maher with the u21s, but what involvement do they have in the 1st team? Surely if they have the coaching capabilities to achieve such great results the club needs to nurture the coaching talent along with the players, or we could lose them in the future..

Can we have a poll on it? I'll start with make the tea

Whilst trying not to turn the thread into a what does Brian do discussion I do believe he’ll be promoting his DVD again this Christmas

I agree with you FF, when I think of the brilliance of our goalkeeping coaching, constantly improving over the years, it beggars belief that we have not switched on the light to recognise what a good bit of forward coaching might achieve for us, albeit in the future. Our whole coaching set up seems to be defensive, quite right at one level, start at the back etc, but it does make you wonder whether even a temporary or part time appointment might at least enthuse if not develop , improve our current crop. We seem to be able to develop England and international goalkeepers at every junior level, why might that be.? Why couldn't this be replicated if not for the seniors, then start at least for the likes of Norman Wabo?

I think our defensive coaches are proving a liability, when PB goes clear the lot out and start afresh !

I asked this some time ago and was chastised and told that he does lots of 'useful things' - yet he spends most of the week 'up north' - allegedly!

The care homes are cheaper I would imagine.

Dave Huzzey will probably go the same way as Luke Hobbs and Steve King did ,to better and bigger futures. Talented youth coaches .Actually seeing a player they have coached from an 11 year play for the 1st team is what they work for . Last one at Southend was probably Jonny herd. I know we sell the ridiculous talent at a young age.. but seriously no outfield players becoming first team regulars? We play div 1/2 .

Not sure Freddie would be any good as a Forward coach, his talent was instinctive and he had a excellent first touch, not stuff you can coach. We need someone who wasn't the most talented but worked at his craft, someone with excellent knowledge of what is needed to cut it in the lower leagues, someone who knows the club, someone who is available, someone who is adored by the fans, there is only one man - BBBC

Isn't this a discussion that has come up a lot during PB's tenure. If he has gone this long without one he isn't going to change now and bring one in. It's obviously something that is needed due to our lack of goals from the strikers and to help develop the talented young lads.
