Just heard on that piece of sh!t radio station Essex FM, that the ewes have been granted planning permission for their new 10,000 all-seater Community Stadium to be built at Cuckoo Farm.

They expect to have the stadium ready by August next year.

Is it called Cuckoo Farm or is it on the site of the old Severalls Mental Hospital ? I heard that the North Essex Mental Health Authority had signed the transfer of land papers to the football club.

10,000? For a club that has ambitions to play in the Championship....?

Oh dear.

From BBC
P.s It is being built 10,00 to start with, it can be raised to 18,000 if required.

Col******r win stadium permission

The U's hope to leave Layer Road in time for the 2007/08 season
Col******r United have been granted planning permission for their new 10,000-seater stadium at Cuckoo Farm.
Permission was granted on Tuesday afternoon following the signing of legal agreements for the project, which also includes 1,500 new homes.

Councillor Robert Davidson, Col******r Borough Council's portfolio holder for Regeneration and Partnerships, said: "This is a huge step forward.

"I am delighted that the project can now move on to the next stage."

Council leader John Jowers had said in August 2005 that it was "95%-plus likely" that the new stadium would be open in time for the 2007/08 season.

The U's have played at their current Layer Road ground since they were formed in 1937.
