We haven't lost at Coventry in the League for over 56 years. Okay, we've only played them there five times in that period but those five matches include three draws and two impressive and high scoring wins - 5-2 and 4-3.

After the excesses of the vastly experienced, but awful, Trevor Kettle at the weekend, tomorrow we have a young official right at the beginning of his Football League career. It will be John Busby, from South Oxfordshire, refereeing his first ever Southend match in this, his first season as a League referee.

He has been fast-tracked through the system (not always a good sign) spending just one season at Conference level before being promoted at the end of last season.

He has refereed 28 matches at this level, with a high-ish 111 yellow cards and a low-ish single red card.

He visited Roots Hall recently this season as Fourth Official in the Scunthorpe match and was an Assistant Referee the year before, again at home to Scunthorpe.

He took charge of Coventry's 2-0 win at Port Vale in October this season, their last away League win.

His Assistants will be Ian Dudley from Nottingham and Joe Simpson, JD Sports Football Marketing Co-ordinator from Manchester. Joe Clark from Walsall stands by as Fourth Official.,
