The referee for tomorrow's match will be Michael Naylor travelling across from Sheffield for his second Southend match.

He is in his second season, his first passing without too much ado. He was given a couple of Championship matches so marks must have been at least reasonable. His first season card count was low.

Before getting onto the League List he refereed the Blue Square play-off final which saw Oxford's return to League football.

His only previous Southend game was the cardfest at home to Plymouth when he booked 8 and sent off one of theirs. He also gave us a softish, but I think correct, penalty.

This is not typical of his style and if you take away the 19 yellows and 3 reds from just 2 games (one of which was that Plymouth game), his card count is the right side of average. His 30 games have produced 99 yellows and 5 reds. Six of his last ten appointments have been Championship matches.

Assisting will be Darren England from Barnsley and Mark Jones from Nottingham with Bobby Madley from West Yorkshire doing the 4th Official stuff.
