Cult hero?

My 3 cult heroes are:

Roy McDonough - for being a man whose sheer determination for the cause of Southend United, combined with the numerous red cards he collected in pursuit of that cause, must surely elevate him to cult status.

Chrissy Powell - for being, quite simply, the nicest man in football - and for being the best left back England produced (but failed to play) for an awfully long time.

Leo Roget - for being sent off for a foul committed by a player of a different colour; for smashing up the Barnet sound-system because he thought they were celebrating too much; for always playing with total passion, if not always total sense.

definitely agrre with the first 2 but as for the 3rd choice gotta be Paul Clark ..........or erm Dave Martin........or erm Ian Benjamin.........or erm Paul Sansome................or erm Colin Morris.............

Benji... fair comment, the Bury goal will forever give him the ultimate cult status; you'll have to e-mail the Beeb as I've done it already. Would probably have him in ahead of Roget (don't know how I overlooked that one, other than on account of being brain-dead).

Stevie Tilson - a hero, rather than a cult hero? Ditto Sammy. Ditto Martin.

Paul Clark - possibly cult status for that beard.

Colin Morris - before my time.

and what about a certain Stanley Victor Collymore? Surely he qualifies for cult status?

don't forget to be a cult hero, he does not necessarily have to be a player, thus I also nominate Dave Webb - nuff said!

On this basis can I nominate Muppett ?

Wouldn't say Stan Collymore was a cult hero specifically... more like our favourite son IMHO.

My choices:-

1.) Steve Tilson - for long service and achievements to date [He even remained committed to SUFC whilst playing at CanveyFC]

2.) Chrissie Powell -

The smile always said it all... a true professional and a real gentleman, there's only one Chrissie Powell

3.) ... [struggling to find another one in truth, that doesn't go back before 1992 when I saw my first match at Roots Hall

Brett Angell, Ricky Otto, Andy Ansah, Andy Sussex... come to mind, but again not really cult status?]
