Has anyone on here done this?

Its less than 40 miles, so in theory I should be able to cycle it in about 2 hours.

Any suggested routes? The A13 and A127 aren't particularly appealing as cycle routes.

I've done that before, very hilly!

I'd either go through the minor roads that run between the 127 and 13 or go through Brentwood, Billericay, Wickford etc.

Maybe check out the Sustrans website then and see if they have anything on a London to Southend route or how it ties into the National Cycling Network.

Had a quick look at Sustans earlier and there didn't seem to be any useful cycle routes on it for this part of the world. Also had a look at a road atlas and there seem to be a few B-roads that I can switch between, might make it fun navigating though. With places with names like Westley Heights and Horndon on the Hill I can see where MrB is coming from.

Have you though about cycling down the train traks mate?

Its a fairly straight route and the path is well trodden. Should be a breeze.

Hope this helps.

I recon we should do a cycle in conjuction with the Shrimpers Trust from Southend to an away game or something to raise money for the youth team :D

Just an idea?

I'm set to do a sponsored ride from Celtic Park to the new stadium around the time it opens (over the course of a week).

Wasn't going to donate to the Trust though, I have to admit!
