Hi all
for anyone into cycling (or anyone into amazing feats of human endurance), The Race Across America started this week.
RAAM is a non-stop 3000 mile race from San Diego to Annapolis. It is regarded as the world's toughest physical endurance event. Forget the Tour de France, this is a one-stage race, with solo racers cycling 250-300 miles per day and taking only 2 or 3 hours rest.
A mate of mine, Jim Rees, is competing in his 3rd consecutive solo race. I crewed for him in his first solo attempt in 2007. It was quite an adventure and was captured on a TV documentary shown during ITVs Tour de France coverage last year.
So far the leaders have covered 500 miles without stopping! You can follow the action here:
