And so Basildon Council decide to spend millions reclaiming Dale Farm and now decide just a few hundred metres away to give away green belt land to allow a dogs home for strays to be built.

Seriously Tony Ball, what are you doing?!

Even the usual right of centre readers of the Echo are agreeing this is terrible double standards.

Edit- forgot the link: http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/loc...351.Planning_officers_in_favour_of_dogs_home/

(Also interestingly the land at DF is now *not* being reclaimed in compensation by the council. I saw images of it this evening, it would make a perfect set for filming a WW1 film in the trenches. AND most of the travellers are back now, living in the legal plot and on the road - Basildon Council didn't both to include that in their injunction and rulings - where there is mass overcrowding and no sanitation... there is a real concern of an outbreak of dysentery or such like. The Council have decided to let the travellers keep the land, but are not allowed access to it, so even if they wanted to restore it - and why would they - they can't.)

A truely breath taking farce from start to finish fuelled by hateful fools who let emotion get in the way of pragmatism. The joke is that there could now be a new site in basildon to house those displaced from Dale farm, so we've spent 18+ million quid to move a few families a couple of miles.

Surely you've made up this story about the dogs home pickles?
