Some **** (a neighbour actually) ending up damaging my wing mirror on my Focus last week. So I now need a replacement.

Well, only a few bits of it to be honest.

The mirror glass itself needs replacing, along with the black surround and the indicator light cover.

The actual shell is fine.

It is an electric mirror and it still operates fine.

Now, do I take it to the Ford garage at Kent Elms, or do I take it to an Independent?

Does anyone have any advice/recommendations?

I never use Fords, they seem to charge 12 times more than anyone else.

When mine got smashed (completely) took it to an independant off of East Street (Brooks Motor technicians) and they replaced the whole thing and resprayed it etc. Didnt cost a huge amount.

Take it to nevendon salvage in hockley mate, I got a replacement for my mums vw which was electric and painted for £25.00 including VAT .

Do what I did when I was 17. I smashed the wing mirror of my mum’s car. Saturday morning I bought a new one for a tenner (that’s all they were then) and replaced it myself. At lunch on Saturday my dad asked me how much the mirror was and I told him. He then leaned to one side to get a tenner out of his pocket, but my mum stopped him by saying, “So that’s his pocket money spent for the week.” (It happened that I also got £10 a week pocket money, and my dad had given that to me Friday on night.) After dinner I was in the lounge by myself when my grandmother came in and said, “don’t tell your mum, but here’s the tenner for the wing mirror.” About 5 minutes later my dad came in and said, “don’t tell your mum, but here’s the tenner for the wing mirror”!

Ford Dealer it is then...
Seconded. Tell him you needed to preserve the Anti-Corrosion warranty that came with the car and 3rd party repair work without an insurance backed guarantee invalidates it. Personally I wouldn't use the Kent Elms branch of Essex Ford (or whatever they are called these days), the Rayleigh boys always seem a little more on the ball.
