Hearn bids for BDO

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12784_5642569,00.html
"I just think we're coming up to a major part of the evolution of the sport, we've got the World Championships on Sky Sports with £1 million in prize money, and we've got 58 televised events around the world," Hearn told Sky Sports News.

"It needs proper management now to take the game forward, we now the time is right and we think we're the ones to do it.

"I'm expecting the BDO to welcome this offer with open arms, they're going to get the cash necessary to keep this great game alive at grass roots level.

"It's not really about the PDC and the BDO, it's a unified system. I need new players to come through from the grass roots and challenge Phil Taylor, he's been having a great time of it lately."

Initial reaction from the BDO was not positive, however, with founder Olly Croft insisting the organisation is not for sale and dismissing the bid as a publicity stunt.

Croft said: "This is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt and has nothing to do with unifying the sport but has everything to do with his (Hearn's) inflated ego and perceived self-importance."
