Sunderland have signed Daryl Murphy who apparently once played for us; infact started his career with us as found on the Waterford website:

"This transfer however is also great news for Southend United. In the past couple of years, thanks mainly to the great work of Eoin Hand, the rules of transfers have been changed to ensure that the player’s starting club also benefit from big money moves. A great boost for them and thoroughly deserved for helping to develop Daryl into the great player that he is today."

How much cash did we get?

Never heard of him!...

None ...... it will probably go to the Irish youth football club of the same name (yes, another one!) where I assume Daryl Murphy started out.
