Dave Smith Tribute Event - Highlights Video

Real nostalgia. Couldn't believe all my heroes are now old men. What's that all about. I didn't go as it's not really my thing but actually now wish I had so I could bore the ex players with my memories of them. I would also be looking at the old plaques to the bowls club champions to see if Bob Jack is there as it was his bowls club. Southend s first manager was an avid bowls player and very good at it. Like Dave Smith he was Scottish although I think Peter Mason's book says he played bowls for England. Just checked he was Essex singles champion and played for the English bowlers against the Scottish bowlers in 1922.
