So the Argie takes a chunk out the leg of a line judge at Queens with a petulant, childish kick at an advertising hoarding, and then blames the ATP for not letting him off the hook and play on?

What a huge great big knob!

He'll be lucky he doesn't get banned from Wimbledon IMHO.

Disgraceful behaviour, should be banned from Wimbledon. How dare he justify assaulting a line judge by claiming it's some sort of crusade about the ATP who make the poor tennis players play lots. Spoilt overpaid sports starts throwing their toys out as usual. And shame on the Queens Club toffs for applauding him like some kind of hero and booing the decision. If you have an issue with the ATP then fine, a number of players do at the moment but don't express it that way (I don't think he was complaining about the match being defaulted but rather other issues). Tennis can be a frustrating game, I know I used to play a lot but he went too far there. Completely stupid too since he was one set up.

Typical Argie eh.

In his defence, who would honestly expect the stuff to be made of cheap board when it looks pretty much like a platform? Against his behaviour, it's about time tennis players - and every other sportsman - learned that there are reactions/consequences to their actions.

Don't blame the crowd for their reaction, they've been poorly rewarded for laying out their money.

To be quite honest, anyone who looks at that line judge chair and thinks it's a platform is deluded, least of all a finalist who is yards from it. Nalbandian has always been a complete ****.

There is no defence for a professional sportsman to lose their rag and lash out. I'm surprised at you Kay

Seen it plenty of times down the years....McEnroe, Cantona to name but a few. McEnroe made a profession out of losing his rag!

I think people seem to have the mistaken idea that I was somehow completely defending the guy, whereas although I clearly gave a statement in his defence in my original post, I also condoned his and other petulant sports stars' behaviour.

Anyway, looks like there may be a case of assault brought against him now...

I think you mean condemned

Didn't Henman do something quite similar years ago? Kicked a ball at a ballgirl, from what I recall.

except that Henman apologised and presented the ball girl a few days later with a huge bunch of flowers on centre court.

I cannot believe Nalbandian has not been banned from Wimbledon.

Yeah I thought it was a bannable offence too. Any other sport and they'd be banned for a very long time. Barton has a 12 match ban for what he did - doesn't quite seem relative.
