Poor old St. Peter has a job on his hands: "Ok, which one of you is Kirk?". If there's any Brit's in the line I can imagine the response.....

RIP Mr. Douglas

I don't think I've seen any Kirk Douglas films as far as I'm aware, certainly not the biggies.

When young lads stopped watching films like Spartacus, the World changed.

Different generation mate. I was brought up on films like Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and through to Alien(s), Terminator and Robocop. Douglas was my dad's generation.

I'm not saying it's right and he obviously was a great actor but personally his films didn't do it for me (back then). Perhaps I'll try and catch Spartacus when it's broadcast (because it no doubt will be).

Having just checked his complete filmography I can say with confidence that I haven't either. I'd like to see Spartacus and The Fury, not interested in the rest. Dare I say it, it looks to me as though his legendary status is built upon just 2 or 3 films.

Not true.Check out one of his last films Lonely are the Brave (where he plays an aging cowboy who knows his time is up.Rarely mentioned as one of his great roles but it is.

I hate cowboy films.

edit: apart from Carry on Cowboy.

Oh, The Magnificent Seven, Shane, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The Wild Bunch...plus the "modern ones" The Assassination of Jesse James...., Unforgiven....there are gems out there amongst the stereotypical ****e.
