JASON Demetriou is seeking another successful afternoon at Walsall this weekend - only this time as an opposition player.

From a Walsall rag ;

Jason Demetriou seems to be a defender first now

Given he's a right-back, the above statement should be a pretty straightforward one.
However, during his solitary season with Walsall, Demetriou is probably more fondly remembered for his attacking tendencies than his work at the back.
If Saturday's clash is anything to go by, though, he seems a lot more withdrawn since his summer move to Southend.
Saddlers fans fearing Demetriou would come back to haunt them by bombing on down the wings need not have worried.
Southend's rigid 4-4-2 formation gives full-backs less licence to get forward than some of the systems Walsall played last season.
And while he did get forward on occasion, there were none of those lung-busting runs up and down the flank that turned him into such a fan favourite.
Indeed, he got a fine response from Walsall fans – a response you suspect not many of the other summer departures would have got.
