Echo News DEMETRIOU: WE HAVE TO GET NASTY

With 7(?) red cards already this season, some might say we're already too nasty. Either way it seems a bad idea to announce this publicly. This is the type of discussion to have in the dressing room, not with the media.

Demetriou doesn't even need to be on the pitch to get booked.

6 soft red cards plus Powell at Plymouth

Kightly and Oxley - pathetic
Cox and Robinson 2 similar fouls straight after each other in the opponents half - stupid and unprofessional
Turner - pathetic - trod on a Blackpool player on the ground
Yearwood - slipped - at least it was in our half.

At least make a red card count and save a goal.

Maybe ‘Nasty’ is the wrong word but I kinda get where he’s coming from , we are far to soft in midfield, aggressive rather than nasty might be better.

And most fans wanted the team to demonstrate they care and show more passion and desire, cannot win either way?

Funny innit, we’ve been talking romantically about big Roy and peter Butler etc, yet 6 red cards this season is looked upon in a bad light.

Just win whether its good or bad just win !
Think we all could do with a win whether its pretty football or damn right ugly.

Did you actually read the article or just comment based on the headline?

He's just saying the group of players are really nice, but they need to get nasty on the pitch AS LONG AS ITS CONTROLLED

Don't see anything wrong with that.

About time we saw some steel in the middle of the pitch! Remember Bailey, Maher, Guttridge, McCormack?

So against Fleetwood, the first 5 fouls (excluding handball) were all by us. We then scored (21').

The first foul by Fleetwood was on the 33' mark, remarkably.

In the first half there were 8 fouls by us, and just 2 by Fleetwood (with one being a yellow)

The second half begins with a foul by Fleetwood, and they've made 3 (with another yellow) with us 2 before they score their equaliser.

Two fouls apiece (one yellow for us) before we take the lead

Two fouls by us (conceding the pen) and one by Fleetwood see out the game.

8 fouls by Fleetwood, and 14 by us, excluding handball.

So definitely something to be said for showing some grit, in particular at the start of the match.

Stats taken from BBC live text so may be an error somewhere.

Was never a huge fan but Mark Bentley always put in a shift and was a hard player to get by and popped up with a few goals

One of those players who's contribution was noticed when not in the team, use to have good banter with guy in front of me I was a Carl Pettefer fan he was Mark Bentley and we did not ever agree who was better

He was right, but I'd take a Carl Pettefer now.
