the current form, the dreadfully dreary football played, financial questions, popularity of Chairman, new stadium taking 27 years and counting and a general bout of recent depression, Southend United is still, without a shadow of a doubt - the greatest football club in the world!!

Anyone from Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Catalonia, Glasgow, Munich, London or elsewhere cannot boast all of the following:

Billy Best, Stan Collymore, Richard Cadette, "spud" Taylor, Dave Worthington, Freddy Eastwood, "wee" Dave Cunningham, Kevin Maher, Derek Spence, Andy Ansah, Ron Pountney, Alan Moody, Brett Angell, Daryl Flahaven, Mervyn cawston, Roots Hall (with all it's faults), Dave Smith with long hair, Tilly, Oliver Trigg, finacial woes, Benji at Bury...I could continue all day.

There is no question - Southend United is a soap-opera that I hope just runs and runs (unlike many players we have witnessed over the years!!) forever!

C'Mon You Shrimpers!!

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it
