Doesn't mention having the worst tactics in history while Southend manager. Not surprising that he never managed another Football League side again.
Oh and he also signed Eric Steele and Richard Young to of the worst players ever to play for Southend.

8-1 ... we're gonna lose 8-1...and we did!
I recall Gillingham winning their next fixture 10-0 against Chesterfield.

On a par with Colin Murphy as the most inept men ever to be trusted with the managers role in my lifetime as a Southend supporter.

Next time the Tilly Out brigade starts up let's remind them of these two clowns!

and yet, and yet. Murphy gave us Stan the Man. That alone raises him several levels above the dross.

Don't forget the legend that was Peter Morris..

Dick Bate must be getting on a bit by now, he seemed pretty old when he was our 'manager'. Funny though, how someone who was obviously so inept as a manager could be so good as a coach, and lets face it he wouldn't have that CV if he'd been as awful in all his other jobs as he was with us.
