Did RM answer SOS questions

Sorry just seen this! Anyway no he did not, he wrote back saying why don’t we all have a zoom meeting. To which I replied these questions are important and need to be in writing so they are accountable.... that was nearly 2 weeks ago and Ron has not replied

It's an observation not a criticism but ....

This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about earlier in the week around approach. Its quite an antagonistic stance if you don't mind me saying and frankly as someone else has said a Zoom meeting or in writing makes Ron no less or more accountable.

All that has been achieved is delay the opportunity to get some really important questions across. If the meeting was minuted properly and not just a series of simple "notes and reminders" as I was told in the last few days you then have the basis for moving forward and in time holding people to account on both sides.

I don't get that at all. Ron was asked if he would be able to answer a few more questions that Scott had for him. HE said yes. HE agreed and set the time scale for a reply of a week. HE then changed his mind on this and said let's Zoom instead. HE did not want to answer the questions. How you can say Scott is somehow antagonist in this dialogue just doesn't make sense. As usual RM moved the goalposts to suit himself in his narcissistic way of treating others.

Because by saying he insists it should be in writing (from Ron's perspective) you will be all viewed as pulling your tanks up on his front lawn something - we all know is never going to work with him - quite the reverse. Surely as long as we get answers in a format is better than no answers at all.

You won't move forward in the short term if both sides are intransigent - and he in the one that holds all the cards at the moment. You guys need to improve your negotiating position in the medium term and you aren't going to do that by pi**ing him off. Makes it very easy for him to cut you out imho.

That's the point, in person all you will get is waffle, change of subject and deflection. Believe me I have been there on more than one occasion. With all due respect it seems you have no idea how Ron plays the game of Carrot and Stick.

So you call a guy who gambles all his finances on one development a good businessman? Is that a sensible strategy for good business? Simple yes or no and then you can explain why.

Sorry but you need to read my first line again.

Plus this is a forum for adult discussion. No one has to answer to the command and format that you want.

I think asking for the answers in writing is exactly the right thing to do. He's a master at diversion tactics, rather than answering the questions in a clear and concise way. The fact he would rather do it by a zoom call, tells you everything about his unwillingness to give us the truth.

Not my business as a col u fan but I admire your fight as a collective.
IMO, based on the fact that Ron defects a question so you want his replies in writing rather than zoom, surely you would have better luck getting answers on zoom as you can challenge his replies to keep him on track. Written replies you’ll get the same bumf off him but written rather than spoken and you won’t be able to ensure the answer reflects the question asked!
A recorded zoom call is just as accountable as a written response

Zoom or a written statement? In reality I wouldn't bother with either. What RM is going to do or not do with the club is something that is not going to change because of protests or finger pointing. Put SOS, Stan or even the full might of the Chinese army against Ron and he will still see his project through, his way. Why not? It's his to do with as he sees fit. These protests and interrogations will probably start him chuckling and end with him laughing all the way to the bank.

Our best bet is settle down in a nice comfy armchair, pour a cold glass of anaesthetic and watch the drama unfold. There will be more twists and turns than in a series of Line of Duty, only in this scenario H stands for houses. Once Ron has got them underway we will see how much he cares for the club. All the pressure you think you can bring to bear will not see him Buckells.

Thing is Ron had absolutely no obligation to answer any questions whatsoever and backing him into a corner isn’t going to force him to do so. At least on a zoom call we’ll get some answers, might not be the ones we necessarily want but it’s something.

I've come across enough Ron Martin's in my professional career to know that drawing lines in the sand is NOT the way you get what you want. If the relationship had or does reach a point in the future that it has effectively broken down then maybe, for the good of the club, it's time for a fresh start.

Certainly suggest if/when a new CEO is appointed the Trust, SOS etc field some new people at meetings who are perhaps a little less cynical about Ron's motives. Easy to feel it - but it will get us nowhere.

Ron is laughing now, he’s splitting supporters already and he’s not come to the table
Posters criticised The Trust for not forcing issues, which I believe have more chance of getting things done purely because they have more experience and history
But and it’s no offence SOS are looking like a Lynch mob, by making demands to answer within 7 days and yet no reporting back he hadn’t done so, and I’ll be honest I thought the zoom meeting looked not great( Just my opinion) very wooden and looking like rabbits caught in the headlights
I just hope this rally/ protest goes without incident , because end of the day it’s the organisers who will take the brunt, regardless if they try and pacify the trouble makers should they decide to do a Man Utd
It’s not a criticism just an observation from an outsider looking in
Been a supporter for nearly 50 years of Southend and seen what a mob can do especially at games like Oxford away, Grimsby to name two and of course people who thought banter at Wembley was different to people’s vision after being showered with beer
Like all things , you must have a plan A and a plan B should it not go as you wished and be prepared to accept not everyone will agree with views

If anything SC getting involved takes the pressure off Ron.It gives the appearance of him listening to the fans....but in reality he will waffle and continue with his plan A whilst breathing a sigh of relief

Do you not think he'll need our backing with season tickets sales and support for the new stadium etc ? No obligation, but I think it's in his best interests.

This is standard Ronnie. Not a man of his word. Not a man with integrity. Not a man you'd want responsible for anything you care about.

He isn't very good at getting what he wants though is he?

There have been several iterations of a scheme for the development of a new football stadium on land adjacent to the west of the application site. Initial proposals were granted on appeal (06/01300/FUL) in 2007 for a 22,000 seater football stadium and associated facilities. This permission has since lapsed however Southend Borough Council made a resolution to approve a revised scheme (11/00583/EXTM) in April 2013 for 22,000 seater stadium together with 114 bedroom hotel, 67 apartments, 16,400 sq m retail fl oorspace and 279 sq m restaurant supported by 2,074 space car park. More recently two scoping opinions have been issued. At the end of 2015 (15/01603/RSO) in respect of a new scheme for a 21,000 seater stadium and associated training facilities, 74 apartments, 32,000 sq m retail and restaurant fl oorspace, a 12 screen cinema and parking for up to 1590 cars. During May 2016 (16/00654/RSO) in respect of a 21,000 seater stadium and associated training facilities, 2 soccer domes, 131 bed hotel, 257 apartments, 25,200 sq m retail and 4,153 sq m restaurant fl oorspace, a 12 screen cinema and parking for up to 2330 cars. Planning permission (11/00224/TIME) was granted by Rochford District Council for three outside training pitches, an all-weather fl oodlit training pitch and surface car parking on land to the north of Fossetts Way. This permission has been implemented although it has not been completed.

.........so far nothing.

Plans come and go. Hotel, no hotel. Four sided ground or three. Whatever transpires will translate into money, so yes, he is getting what he wants. What about the fans? Do they get what they want? Do they know what they want? Some want Ron out, some don't. Some want to stay at RH, others know that's impossible. A section of fans want to protest. Ha! The vast majority won't, so who are the minority talking on behalf of? Themselves of course. Stan comes on here and yaps on about unity. Make me laugh! There is very little cohesion among the fans. In fact the disappointment of losing our league status is the only thing we all have in common.
Ron is the Big Casino and also the croupier. He spins the wheel and stops it where he wants. You can't play against someone who holds all the chips and is the only one who can win this game. All we can do is cheer on the players, be proud to be a fan and take the crumbs from the chairman's table.

I will stick to facts. Ron has not achieved his number one goal for the last 20+ years.

Your imaginary picture has him as a billionaire with family as senior member of the government.

One minor change in approval and his whole dream is over.

10/10 for the elaborate story mind you. Get you CV off to Netflix.

Please cling to the comfort of being Mr. Righty Face for now. What pleasure will that give you when the houses are built and your whole point is relegated to the bin of futility? SBC are driving home their housing wish list. They will get what they want and that will result in a boost to Martin family economy. Good for Ron. He's in business to succeed. Most of his critics on this forum would sell-out to be in his shoes.

Like all disputes the answer is in the middle. Onceknown makes some very good points about the planning and housing etc, which is why the fans have to stick to Stadiums and players.

just like far to many others, Hegman has fallen into the lazy trap of thinking it hasn't happened yet so it wont. It will because the houses make life easy for council. 35 years ago no football club would have made life easy for them. 25 years ago no planning made life easy and so it goes on.

It hasn't happened so far because of Siansbury's then the council. There was never going to be houses at RH until Sainsbury's pulled out. There was only going to be apartments within the stadium until the BL deal went cold after the council rushed through the Seaway project.

The quicker the stadium is approved the quicker you see the back of Ron. Until fans accept that fact we wont get very far.
