I was merely trying to show that Southend United historically are the equivalent of a League 1 Club.

If we look at the Club's history Post-War until the League split in 1958, the Blues finished in the top 10 of League Division Three (South) in 10 out of 12 seasons. That would make us a League 1 Club as the split took the top 12 clubs.

.

But even if we take it from the split in Season 1958/59. From those 54 seasons, the Blues have played 7 seasons in the Championship, 31 seasons in League 1 and just 16 seasons in League 2.

Sorry. We have played 23 seasons in the bottom league since 1966/67 and 17 in the equivalent of League 1 and 7 in the current Championship level.

Where do you get just 16 years in the basement since 1958/59???

Just to clear things up. Since the formation of the 4th division (1958/59), we have spent 7 seasons in the 2nd tier, 25 in the 3rd tier and 23 in the 4th tier.

Also, 6 of those 7 seasons in the 2nd tier were consecutive (between 1991/92 and 1996/97 seasons) followed by 2 bottom place finishes in a row.

Sorry Kev, missed a chunk. It happens when you get to my age

chapperzUK has the correct figures since split in 1958/59.

You were right about the post-war to 1958 split, that if you class the top half of the 3rd division as the 3rd tier and the bottom half as the 4th tier, we got in the top half 10 times out of 12.
